Pitching, Hitting, Defense, Beginners Slapping
Coach David has been a pitching instructor for twenty years, starting in 2003 at Showtime Sports in Nashville, TN working with former MLB player Chris Lauderhous. Pitching for the Lady Bulldogs at Cumberland University from 1998-2001, Coach David brings a collegiate perspective to her lessons and experience working with recruitment as a player and as an instructor. Coach David was instructed at Club K in Nashville, TN under Coach Cheri Kempf from 1992-1999. Coach David teaches a style of pitching called internal rotation or IR. This method combines the knowledge of physics and kinetics into the pitcher’s motion to create a fluid dynamic motion to gain optimal speed while ensuring the most fluid arm motion to reduce arm and shoulder injuries in pitchers. Coach David also is the lead hitting instructor at The Zone Fastpitch. Hitting over .400 her senior year, Coach David was a power hitter. She received instruction from the great Doreen Damon.

Shelby Haas, Pitching/Hitting/Defense
Coach Shelby recently graduated from Calhoun where she pitched and played right field. A power hitter, Coach Shelby is not only one of our pitching instructors but also instructs batting. Coach Shelby has been taking lessons from Coach David at THE ZONE FAST PITCH since its inception and now instructs the IR method along with Coach David. Coach Shelby brings a fresh perspective to the facility just finishing her college carrier in May of 2022. Coach Shelby graduated from Madison County High School in 2019 and was nominated for Alabama Player of the Week in March of 2019. Coach Shelby is a partner instructor at THE ZONE FASTPITCH and instructs in the same method as Coach David. Her contact number is 256-665-0247.
Catie David, Junior Instructor
Catie David is a member of the TN Bombers Gold Team where pitches, plays infield/outfield, and is a power hitter. Catie has been named to the Extra Innings Top 100 2025 players list consecutively for the past two years and ranked amoungest the Top 100 Pitchers and Fielders as well. She has earned honors as both an All Star player at Scenic City and at the Colorado Sparkler. Catie hits consecutively and is a threat in the field. Catie was honored to be selected by the MLB to attend the Elite Development Series in Vero Beach Florida and was selected amount 60 other athletes to attend trials for the US Women’s National team in Dallas, Texas. Catie plans to play in college and will announce her selection in the fall. As a sophomore, Catie is a Varsity Captain on the Buckhorn High School Soccer Team as a Goalkeeper and Mid Fielder.
Catie is giving pitching, hitting, fielding, goal keeping, and beginners soccer lessons. Junior Instructor rate is $25 for 30 minutes. Her contact number is 256-468-6851.
